New books – or old?

Hey! A delivery of books to the ‘Honey Pot’ yesterday…. here they are (or at least some of them)

Can’t wait to get my ‘teeth’ into some of these!

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset. I am enslaved by Sherpa-the-cat. Saturday mornings find me 'playing shop' in the Honey Pot - a second hand bookshop, run from my garage, where along with the books you'll find fun, friendship and refreshments - all in a good cause.

Looks like a nice bunch — my curiosity factor is high, though. I’m not familiar with Howard Spring. One day…one day…I’m going to actually renew my passport and make a trip to the Honey Pot! I should bring donations when I come. I feel most like Helene Hanff when I think of crossing the pond. Of course, that’s also where our similarities end. 🙂 Blessings to you!

It is an interesting bunch Susan (so get that passpot renewed!!) I had heard of Howard Spring but had him placed as ‘inter-war books for men’. Then I looked up his biographical notes and found an interesting story. That he chose to live and write in Cornwall is a vote in his favour. He had a hard upbringing, so I’m guessing his descriptions of people will have a lot of depth. I’m ‘borrowing’ his books with the intention of reading them in chronological order… watch this space! (I have just rediscovered my Monica Dickens books, so lots of temptation to stray!)
