A limp hic verse

Everyone here

has

A limp –

Hic – itis

They’re

waving

and cheering

like mad.

They’ve

discovered a bent

for

sporting

events

which they’d

never

heard of

before.

They’ve

studied

the rules

and acted

like

fools;

as they measured

their length

on the floor.

They’ve sought

to excel

or at least

to do well

at any sport

where Team GB’s

scored.

So we’ll cheer

for the Brits

work ourselves

into fits;

we’ll hope

for success

and a gold.

Then we’ll

slump in dismay

as the points leak away

and we’ll

sadly ‘A-limp’

on our way.

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset. I am enslaved by Sherpa-the-cat. Saturday mornings find me 'playing shop' in the Honey Pot - a second hand bookshop, run from my garage, where along with the books you'll find fun, friendship and refreshments - all in a good cause.

VERY excited tonight as the medals roll in – we are surprising ourselves with our enthusiasm!!

We were cheering on Jessica Ennis. She is such an inspiration — and coming in hard on that last race when she didn’t have to — great sport! It has definitely gotten more fun to watch as the games advance. We are following Leo Manzano in the men’s 1500 race – he’s a fellow Texan that my girls got to meet and run with last summer. He’s not a favorite, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
