A ‘ruined’ holiday… with books!

We were blown all the way to Northumbria – gale force winds swept us up the western side of Britain and, at the end of our break, fell away to a gentle breeze, allowing us to return by the more easterly route. In between we were lashed by 30mph wind on the beaches, teetered dangerously on the ruins and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it all!
See if you can put the right name to the right castle…pictures first.
So, in no particular order:
Banburgh, Warkworth, Alnwick, Etal, Dunstanburgh, Berwick town wall, Lindisfarne Priory, Lindisfarne castle – and I forgot to take a photo of Barter Books (where I spent three happy visits!) Can you pin the right name on the right ‘ruin’ – or ‘not-so-ruin’? happy sleuthing!
ps ignore dates on photos – camera playing up again!

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset. I am enslaved by Sherpa-the-cat. Saturday mornings find me 'playing shop' in the Honey Pot - a second hand bookshop, run from my garage, where along with the books you'll find fun, friendship and refreshments - all in a good cause.

These are beautiful pictures, although I am sadly too ignorant to play along. It sounded like y’all had a wonderful time of birthday celebrating with the boys. Lovely picture over on Simon’s blog. Hope you are all doing well and staying warm over there! We’re in one of those “whirlwind of activity” seasons over here, and I’m looking forward to the holidays to slow us down.

I’ll post the answers next week – there are no prizes anyway!
And yes, we had a lovely time together last weekend!
