birds in a tree

It’s snowing again. Sherpa is mystified by it and keeps trying to catch snowflakes (from the other side of the window!) She was very uncertain about walking out in it – so much happier watching from indoors.
The crabapple tree still has this years crop hanging from the branches – or rather, what is left of this year’s crop. The blackbirds and fieldfares are thoroughly enjoying feasting on the fruit and are also tempted by the bruised cooking apples I have thrown to them. What a glorious sight, the subtle colours of feathers against the motley russet of the autumn fruit, dashed by snowflakes the size of an old sixpence.
I must brave the snow to collect costumes for tonight’s village variety show: “Christmas Crackers”. All the usual suspects will be there and fun will be had by all.
More anon…..

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset - but have had to leave the countryside at a little distance, having moved into town.
