… and counting …

It’s been ‘one of those weeks’ when Events take over and dictate what happens (and what doesn’t!)
Consequently, tonight is devoted to the making of lists – which, other than actually doing something, is the best way of hitting impending deadlines.
(By the way, hands up everyone who, when writing a ‘to do’ list, puts something on it that they have already done – for the pure pleasure of crossing it off!)
Anyways (as one of my sons would say) on with the lists – present-buying, card-posting, food-buying, preparation for the ‘Christmas Cracker’ (the village show), a Nativity lunch for under 5s (complete with dressing up, making star decorations and eating festive food), baking, house decorations, outdoor crib scene and …. fun fun fun singing, making music, meeting friends and family and sharing this very precious time of celebration the birth of our Saviour.
No pressure, but I have just realised that there are just 12 days to get everything done and at least half of those are already full. Ooops! Should have started earlier!
But hey, I am going to claim my own personal ‘Silent Night’ and relax for a bit before the madness really starts.
Take time to just ‘be’ and ‘enjoy’ as we prepare for Christmas. You never know, we may get snowed in πŸ™‚

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset. I am enslaved by Sherpa-the-cat. Saturday mornings find me 'playing shop' in the Honey Pot - a second hand bookshop, run from my garage, where along with the books you'll find fun, friendship and refreshments - all in a good cause.

Being snowed in is really starting to sound nice to me! However, I would love to be a fly on the wall for that nativity lunch for the under 5s. πŸ™‚ I always start my lists with one thing already done — there’s something motivating about it. And, I must say, without my lists this week I think I would have to be locked up in a looney bin somewhere. My baby turned 10 today, so we had a pause in the Christmas hustle and bustle to celebrate with him. I totally forgot candles for the cake, though. Why? Because they didn’t get written on my list! πŸ™‚
Merry Christmas to you and yours during the holiday season!
