October gold

October has swept in with storm and the proverbial.  Leaves are chuckling around the garden and the size of dragonfly using our pond as a centre of activity has risen to ‘Chinook’ helicopter dimensions!

This morning’s ‘Honey Pot’ bookshop was jolly converstion interspersed with heavy showers.  Fortunately we kept (mostly) dry.  The age range was < 2 up to … er, well, shall we say ‘post bus pass’ age.  The youngest member provided plenty of entertainment for the oldies – and one of the ‘oldies’ kept us all laughing as well!  It is always appreciated – at least by me – when those who might have good excuse to be down in the mouth with aches and pains, instead choose to look for the rdiculous in life, thus knocking everything else back into proper proportion.  Thanks for setting out amidst the showers 🙂 You cheered the morning.

In domestic news – we are now proud ‘adoptive parents’ to a kitten.  ‘Sherpa’ joined us on Thursday and is an utter delight.  It is good to be daft again and life with something young and full of playfulness is good for us.
I’ll try to pop in a photo or two.
No more time now – must go and be serious with a cotton reel and a ball with a bell in it.

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset. I am enslaved by Sherpa-the-cat. Saturday mornings find me 'playing shop' in the Honey Pot - a second hand bookshop, run from my garage, where along with the books you'll find fun, friendship and refreshments - all in a good cause.
