back again

I’ve been locked out of this space for a couple of weeks + unable to access hotmail for some time longer – but, with the help of the wonderful guys who sit in offices somewhere and sort things out while I sleep – all is now well and I can bend your ear with ramblings from deepest, sunniest Somerset.
The weather – that favourite subject of the British, is being kind to us and yesterday was one of those lovely days when it is a pleasure to sit in the garden and even eat meals out there – no salad blown on to the ground, no shivers and brave attempts to pretend you’re enjoying yourself – when all you want to do is creep under a blanket.  No.  It was perfect lolling weather – in the shade of course – watching the flowers bloom and the grass not particularly growing, ignoring the weeds and just taking time to enjoy the day – in a lovely place.
A wander around the village as the sun began to dip towards the horizon brought views of contented sheep, sleepy calves, foraging fox cubs, and a lazy hot air balloon wafting overhead.  The day ended with a glorious red sunset (all that volcanic ash still lingering) and a bedroom cool enough to sleep in.

About apthomas

I love books, reading, writing, baking, chocolate, painting, sewing, people and fairtrade - not necessarily in that order. I am a lazy gardener - who loves the garden, and a lazy housewife who likes the place to be warm and welcoming. I live in beautiful Somerset - but have had to leave the countryside at a little distance, having moved into town.
